About the role

An opportunity to lead an established team to deliver and maintain Mental Health care services at the Immigration Detention Centre in Villawood. Main responsibilities:

  • Work under the leadership of the site-based Health Services Manager to support the delivery of health services and provide clinical services
  • Identify and assess at risk persons in detention and provide them with appropriate and timely management of their mental health needs
  • Act as the single point of referral to Mental Health Team
  • Ensure high standards of mental health practice are met
  • Providing reports to the Mental Health Services Manager, stakeholders and other parties as required

Qualifications and experience

  • Full working rights in Australia and full AHPRA registration
  • Minimum of 5 years post graduate nursing experience (MH). Experience in a corrections or detention setting would be desirable
  • Basic Life Support or First Aid Certificate or willing to obtain
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment with patients from culturally and linguistically diverse groups
  • Previous experience with electronic medical records and use of MS Office programs
