Peak body for mental health nurses appoints new CEO
Thursday 10 March 2020
The ACMHN is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Stephen Jackson to the role of CEO. Mr Jackson has a background in health, not-for-profit organisations, and importantly, commercial operations. Previously, he has worked to deliver significant primary health care services to country NSW, including mental health services.
“In accepting this new appointment, Mr Jackson is acutely aware of the need for the expertise of mental health nurses in all health services,” said ACMHN President, Professor Eimear Muir–Cochrane.
“He has worked both publicly and privately in health, and is an experienced CEO with an eye for the sustainability of organisations, while delivering pragmatically for members. His rural, regional, metro, and international experience brings a breadth and depth to the college at a time when the changing landscape of membership organisations requires commercial acumen balanced with the needs of the members,” Prof Muir–Cochrane continued.
Mr Jackson was engaged late in 2019 as the interim Operations Executive,to assist the College through a challenging period. His business and leadership qualities, along with his understanding of the environment in which the College operates, encouraged the Board to re-engage him as CEO to continue building the sustainability of the College.
"I look forward to leading the College and cementing strong commercial footings by consulting and working with the membership, staff, stakeholders, and the Board – my charter is to guide the College to provide value to the membership well into the future," said Mr Jackson.
