Monash Health’s Aged Mental Health Service is organised to enhance patient flow, streamline decision making and deliver consistently high quality services and positive experiences to our people, patients, cares and their families.

As key contributors to this Program, our Aged Mental Health Services teams provide a range of community, bed-based and specialist services to patients in the Casey, Cardinia, Greater Dandenong, Kingston and Monash Local Government Areas.

About the role

The Nurse Manager is a senior leadership role within the organisation, with responsibility for clinical and operational performance within Unit. The incumbent assists the Deputy Director of Nursing Aged Mental Health Service to provide outstanding and effective leadership, coordination and management of nursing care and nursing services for the Aged Mental Health Service, specifically for Unit 3 at Dandenong Hospital. The incumbent will have strong leadership and change management skills to implement and support models of care that ensure streamlined and effective access to services, service delivery and coordinated care.

The Nurse Manager is a role model for the core values and purpose of the organisation to ensure achievement of exceptional care and outstanding outcomes. The incumbent supports excellence in interdisciplinary clinical practice and clinical education, and promotes the development of other nurse professionals.

The incumbent will develop strong relationships with key stakeholders both within Monash Health and externally.

The position requires a broad understanding of the health care system, current and future workforce directions and industrial platforms. The incumbent will possess the ability to think innovatively and strategically to meet challenges, demonstrate professional leadership to achieve all performance targets within budget and ensure the provision of high-quality patient outcomes.

About you

Your demonstrated expert clinical knowledge, skills and significant experience will position you well for success. You relish the opportunity to lead and develop teams and you have proven success in this field. In addition to your superior communication, people and financial management expertise, you are highly proficient with a range of IT applications.

You are formally qualified in Nursing and you hold the relevant professional registrations/memberships. In addition, you have already gained significant postgraduate experience in mental health nursing

Qualifications and experience

  • A post graduate qualification in mental health nursing
  • Current Driver’s Licence and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of the Mental Health Act, 2014, amendments and other relevant legislation

Significant, successful people management experience is a mandatory requirement for this role.
