ACMHN member Christopher Patterson Nurse of the Year 2019

The Australian College of Mental Health Nurses congratulates member of the College, Christopher Patterson for being recognised as Nurse of the Year at the recent 9th Australian Healthcare Week (AHW).

The announcement was made this week at the AHW Excellence Awards Dinner, and Mr Patterson was selected by a high-caliber panel of judges.

He was amongst five other outstanding finalists who were nominated for their experience across multiple industries and are exceptional members of the services delivery community - David Heath, Kath Lynch, Kate Willis, Rebecca Johnson, and Leonie Rastas.

Mr.Patterson who is a Registered Nurse, Lecturer at the University of Wollongong (School of Nursing) and co-founder and Director at Recovery Camp ( is also currently completing his PhD.

ACMHN President Professor Eimear Muir-Cochrane said that she is very proud of Mr Patterson’s achievement and that this is a true recognition of his commitment to the mental health nursing profession as well as people living with mental illness.

The ACMHN has also recognised Mr.Patterson by presenting him the Mental Health Nurse Achievement Award at the 42nd International Mental Health Nursing Conference in Adelaide in 2016.
