Common Questions

Everything you need to know before joining.

How much does ACMHN membership cost?

Membership starts from $121/year for students, retired members, and those on maternity leave. Ordinary membership is $330/year, or from $27.50/month if you prefer to spread the cost. All membership fees are tax deductible.

What's the difference between the ACMHN and other nursing associations?

The ACMHN is the only peak body in Australia dedicated exclusively to mental health nurses. Other nursing associations serve all nursing specialties, which means mental health nursing is just one of many priorities. At the ACMHN, mental health nurses come first — in our advocacy, our credentialing program, our events, and our community.

Do I need to be credentialed to join?

No — credentialing and membership are separate. You can join the ACMHN as an Ordinary Member at any stage of your career. Membership actually supports your credentialing journey by giving you access to CPD opportunities, resources, and discounted credentialing fees when you're ready to apply.

Can I join if I work in a general nursing role but have an interest in mental health?

Yes. Our Associate Membership tier is designed for nurses, allied health professionals, and others who have a professional interest in mental health nursing but may not work exclusively in the field. You'll have access to CPD, resources, events, and our member community.

How do I access my member benefits after joining?

Once your membership is confirmed you'll receive login details for the ACMHN website and an invitation to CollabHub, our member community platform. Member-only resources, event discounts, and credentialing access are all available through your member account.

Is membership worth it if I'm early in my career?

Especially so. Early career membership gives you access to mentoring, networking, and CPD opportunities that can shape the direction of your career. It also puts you on the path toward CMHN credentialing — one of the most valuable credentials a mental health nurse can hold — and connects you with experienced practitioners across Australia.
