Updating skills and knowledge
The aim of the Professional Development Portal is to provide mental health nurses with access to free or low-cost online opportunities to participate in Continuing Professional Education (CPE) or Continuing Practice Development (CPD) programs, which have been developed or accredited by the ACMHN, or which contribute towards becoming or maintaining a mental health nurse Credential under the Credential for Practice Program (CPP).

ACMHN CPE Points =
Examples of CPE = relevant studies in higher education, College education programs, conference paper and workshop presentations, publications in a peer-reviewed journal, relevant studies at TAFE, relevant mandatory education/staff development, relevant conferences and events from other professional bodies, relevant education programs from other educational agencies, delivering formal lectures, relevant curricula/course development, being a College member or fellow, relevant journal subscriptions, private/self-directed study.

Examples of CPD = Clinical supervision, Contribution to the profession, participation in College activities, Conducting clinical research/implementing EBP, Clinical Practice, Structured QI projects, Structured Clinical presentations, working committees, consumer, carer partnerships, NGO partnerships, NGO membership, relevant projects and consultancy, policy/service development, relevant community development, public consultation, structured mental health promotion, structured peer review groups or mentorship, performance management, appraisal, Clinical supervision of others, Membership of other relevant bodies.
